Hello, my name is Izzy (Thistle). I am an artist and tattoo apprentice living and practicing on Meanjin, originally growing up on Bundjalung Country. I relocated to Brisbane to complete my Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Queensland College of Art, graduating in 2021.
Since then, I have built a diverse career within the arts. My practice has spanned a wide range of creative roles, including paint-and-sip instruction, band artwork, logo design, art class facilitation, mural work, and oil painting. Working across multiple mediums has been a defining part of my artistic journey, allowing me to develop a broad skill set and a strong visual voice. World building my own community has been a lifetime goal of mine that i continue to refine with every creation.
Tattooing, however, has always been the ultimate goal. The craft, culture, and history behind the needle have long inspired me, and stepping into tattooing feels like a natural and deeply meaningful progression of my career. After many turns along the way, I have found a space that truly aligns with my passion and purpose as an artist. Spilling the lines between art and the body has always been a main motif in my practice and now it is coming to life.
I am beyond excited to share my work with you. With many projects currently in motion, this year marks an exciting chapter, thank you for being here, and stay tuned for what’s to come!
